obtained my broker’s license in May 2006. Eau Claire by Owner is the Chippewa

Eauclairebyowner.com has over 26,000 backlinks. A backlink is like a vote to a
search engine. Having 26,000 or so votes helps to make this site an
authoritative website in the eyes of both the search engines and the general
public. By contrast, most of my competitors' sites have less than 50 backlinks.
Eauclairebyowner.com ranks on page one for the most popular search term in the
area (Google and Yahoo): eau claire real estate. No other FSBO site even comes
close to ranking this high; I’m right up there with Century21 and Coldwell
Banker. Since August 2005, ECBO has received over 86,000 page views. That’s an
average of 96 page views per day. Most of my competitors don’t have traffic
counters on their site, so I can’t track their numbers to compare. I do not
buy “traffic swarms” from India or China either; the vast majority of my

In 2007, the Realtors Association of Northwestern Wisconsin MLS board average
Days on Market (DOM) was about 120 days. ECBO clients’ homes that sold were on
the market an average of 103 days. This is probably due to the fact that ECBO
clients are able to price their homes more competitively because they know
they will pay less in commissions.
Better Yard Signs
ECBO yard signs are larger (24x24) than average (18x24) yard signs used by
most companies. I mount my signs on posts so they sit higher off the ground
and are more visible than the cheaper stake-type signs other FSBO companies
use. I also use bigger, higher-quality numbers to make it easier for people to
see your phone number and because it makes the signs look more professional.
I Hate Spam!
Eauclairebyowner.com employs spam protected e-mail contact forms to prevent
web robots from harvesting your email address from the website.
Additionally, I do not “spam” the city with signage and magnets promoting my
business on street corners, gas stations, and people’s vehicles like some of
my competitors have been known to do. Besides the fact that it is illegal, I
find such tactics to be annoying and disrespectful. So I don't do it.
I don’t engage in telemarketing of any kind for the same reasons.
This is a Truly Independent Business
ECBO is not affiliated with any other real estate company, title company,
lender, bank, or attorney. In addition, I no longer accept advertising on the
website. I used to, but I felt beholden to the advertisers, which annoyed me.
My clients deserve better than to be herded like cattle to whatever company
happens to pay for an advertisement on my site. I trust my clients to make
good decisions about who will help them with the real estate transaction. If
you ask my opinion, I’ll give it freely without fear of angering someone
advertising on my site.
